2001 Volvo S40 spluttering and cutting out

Car: Volvo S40
Year: 2001
Variant: 2.0 Turbo

The Car starts as normal but immediately it starts to splutter / run rough and will cut out unless the Car is kept revved. It drives on the road perfectly but as soon as you begin to slow for a Traffic Light etc it will cut out unless you can keep the Rev's up.
