1998 Volvo S40 broken back seat catch

trying to fold down the back seat, I pulled the catch forward and it broke (old age!). In order to replace this broken part, I need to fold down the back seat (catch 22!). Tried to unlock the catch using a srewdriver in the slot left vacant by the catch, to no avail ! Any suggestions ?

you are on the right lines, just try a wide blade screwdriver or similar
