I am having a similar problem. my EPC (engine management) light is coming on intermittently. the car is shuddering when i drive. has very little power.

We checked the HT leads and replaced 2 (cylinder 3 and 4) and after that the problem got MUCH worse. It is so bad that i actually can't drive the car.

VW put it on their diagnostic system and found about 8 errors on the engine side, but the technician said that if all of those errors were true the car wouldn't even start. He cleared the errors and restarted the car, and 2 errors came up. The technician suggested there was some kind of miscommunication with the computer and some of the connections to the engine.

I have now taken it in to a VW specialist and he says it could possibly be the throttle body? is that even possible?

I am dreading getting the bill as i am worried it will cost and arm and a leg....

Anybody have any ideas?

I also have the same problem, code P301 (Cylinder 1 misfire).

I wondered if this problem had been resolved yet? Still happening with my polo - i have to switch off engine and re-start to clear the problem. I've had diagnostics etc but they are not specific enough to identify problem. Really frustrating!
