See the thing is I bought a car today from a garage and was driving fine till 1 mile away it just stopped accelerating and engine oil light started flashing.
How terrible is it that I got my licence and then saved up for the car I really wanted saw it on auto trader and went to have a look. Silly me didn't bring my mechanic cause I didn't think I would buy the car. But we took it back and they say that mechanic will look at it on Monday and give it a service so then I could decide to take it back or leave it. Car is suitable for me first driver but even when we stopped police woman was shocked that it had to happen to me first time buyer. The garage people said it could be that the car was last serviced so many months ago and engine oil wasn't top notch.
so with my little knowledge of cars does it seem like it could be a very huge problem that will be very costly? What should I do help me please.

If the oil level was okay then it maybe just requiring the light reset for service/oil quality.as your garage have advised,However I would expect when purchasing any goods especially a car that it should be fit for purpose and that the garage should have prepared the vehicle properly so that you did not suffer this inconveinence .

Be very , very careful if oil light flashes and car stops , especially within a mile of picking up .Get it checked out or you COULD possibly have expensive engine repairs .Car should have been checked over before you picked it up .If any doubt , get your cash back , plenty more to chose from .
