check the pollen filter is`nt blocked, make sure the water is`nt coming in at front of car and running back,as suggested already you need to remove trims and carpet for access and spray with ahose to find point of water ingress, could be a seam needs sealing up or a leaky seal

Would try my suggested link re. pollen filter first before considering unnecessary removal of trims and carpets .As step 11 shows , sponging and a hairdryer will be suffice for drying up .

what side rear foot well I have a wet n/s well ( under investigation ) ! but when i first got the car I noticed the rear washer wasn't that powerful a jet after taking kick plates etc. from passenger side I found the hose that takes washer fluid to rear washer runs under the capping ! It had a tiny pin prick hole in it so every time I went to use rear washer it was putting water into underlay and hence not much of a jet @ the rear wiper !! insulating tape did the job and two years on the passenger back foot well is lovely and dry ( touch wood it holds as it was just supposed to be a quick fix ! ) its just the other side I need to sort now !! as suggested prob pollen filter housing or drain holes ( both bad design and common faults on these ) !

^apply some silicon carefully on the edge of the plastic and you windshield. This seems to be the area where the water most likely comes in through. You can get rid of the excess silicon when it dries by running along the windshield with a razor blade..

once again hope it helped..

I had the same problem and found the water was coming in through the heater vents. The battery box was full of water due to a blocked drain plug. It is necessary to remove the battery to gain access to this plug and remove the debris, which in my car was dead leaves. I removed the drain plug and drilled another two drain holes (belt and braces), and have not experienced the problem since.
