2003 Vauxhall Zafira poor air flow from air vents despite the blower appearing to work fine

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2003
Variant: 2.0 TDi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The blower appears to be working fine. The selector for the various vents does direct the flow of air to the appropriate vent. But albeit at a much reduced flow air still escapes from the vents that are not supposed to be on. All of them.
Anyone come across this?

Check your pollen / cabin filter .

If not that , could also be a fault with the air circulation flap .

may well be a problem with the actuator motor sticking,

It has been suggested to me (by a mechanic)that one of the vents may have become partially disconnected under the dash, and as a result air is blowing in the dash and is trying any way to escape from it. Hence out through any vent. Is that a realistic scenario?
Apparently this has happened in his Astra, and he's left it, as its so difficult to get to.
