Oil smell coming from exhaust

when i start the car or stopping at junctions, when i pull away there is big cloud of white smoke with a bad oil smell coming out aswell , and the engine seems to be using a lot of oil .

Could be valve stems/ oil seals worn , though usually blue smoke .Could check coolant level in case signs of head gasket going .A block test will confirm if gasket knackered .
