Not firing on all 4

I have had a problem with the car using loads of fuel, and engine mis firing badly when lightly using accelerator. Will not clear until flooring it or coming off completely i have changed, air filter, plugs which were jet black, cat, and coil pack. Can someone please tell me what to check?

Used to get 300+ miles a tank now only getting 170 and smells of fuel. Could it be not enough air?

If not firing on 4 , check compressions .
