2002 Vauxhall Zafira engine problems

had a problem last week with the car mis-firing. took it to my local garage,he put the diagnostics on it ans said i needed a new coil pack which he changed and i paid for. driving the car today the same problem has happenend again. car is using a lot of oil and is juddering when driving in a low gear,slowing down etc.he told me that plug number 4 is failing and that is causing the mis-fire.taking it back to him tomorrow. could anyone please shed some light on this?

would check basic things like getting fuel and spark,also check cylinder compressions,if you can get the fault codes then post them up here,have you tried a set of plugs?

Any time a coil pack was replaced by my mechanics , they also checked the plugs automatically . If a plug was not firing , it would foul up , needing cleaned or replaced .
