i have a 2003 zafira 2.0 dti done 100'000 miles i had done about 2000 local miles when i went on my first motorway journey after about 20 miles the engine electronics light come ( car with spanner in it ) it went into limp mode got me home turned the car off it did not come back on when i started it. the car was put on the dionostic it showed no fault but the data read the engine temperature scensor was reading 2500 degrees this was replaced i have done a further 3000 local miles with no problems i went on a 2nd motorway journey and after 20 miles the light come on for a few seconds and went off i completed my journey about a further 8 miles with no further problems any ideas please this problem spoils a nice car

read the codes again it may be a totally different fault as most faults put car into limp home.could be as simple as a glow plug.

common fault on that engine is with inlet manifold,swirl flaps and egr valve getting coked up,in which case you need to remove and clean the above components,other things to check are the vacuum pipes that run to the swirl flaps,throttle housing and wastegate,make sure the pipes are chafed or broken,check all turbo and intercooler pipes are secure,also check injector seals are`nt leaking,see what fault codes are stored

I had exactly the same problem yesterday!!! Only drove about 1/2 mile from home and had to "Limp" home. After sitting in the car for 5 minutes with engine idling, I tried revving again and it was ok for the rest of the day!!!
I dread this happening again as I am a Disabled driver with a serious lung condition.
I want to avoid high garage costs, so, How do I find these fault codes and rectify them?
