2001 Vauxhall Zafira temp gauge drops to zero affecting performance

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.6 club
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
this has only happened at 60plus mph.
Temp gauge drops to zero and the car beings to judder as if about to cut out but doesn't. temp rises again and ok but drops again and problem reoccurs. Last journey and sensor symbol came on (coolant system)yet no fluid loss. Unfortunately sybol stayed on and temp gauge stayed at zero

thanks for this will get it looked at but do I need to get this fixed as soon as? could I cause any damage if I continue to drive for a couple of days (short journey work and back

As long as it's not losing water or overheating , you should be o.k on short journeys . But common sense will tell you to stop if there are any other faults developing .

if the coolant sensor is not working then the ecu goes to a default fuelling setting, the car will just use more fuel, its an easy job to do so you can do it yourself
