HI,The gear box in my zafira is a f18,can i replace it with a higher ratio g/box which will mate with engine, using original drive shafts and fittings,if it would be possible to obtain 1800rpm at 70 mph in top gear. Thanks Rolie.

the gearbox in your car is paired with that engine by vauxhall for a reason, you will have to check fitment with vauxhall, just out of curiosity what is the rpm in 5th gear at 70mph

Ive noticed, newer vehicles useing smaller capacity engines with higher gear ratios and 6 speed gearboxes to help with fuel economy i.e.diesels with low rpm in top gear.Rolie.
