2007 Vauxhall Zafira car heater

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2007
Variant: 1.6I Club Petrol
Categories: Leaks & Noises
My heater does not seem to give out much heat, I have checked out the LED reading as the car does not have any temperature gauge fitted, by pressing the settings button waiting for the bleep then pressing the BC button and scrolling through until I come to an LED readout which gives a temperature reading, that I assume is the water temperature, the car never goes above 30 to 45 degrees, (this is only after a 35 min motorwary drive) if this is the water it seems low to me hence no great heat, the blower is working fine, so what could be the problem?

Does anybody know what the usual temperature of the water should be?

Unless of course the heater in these car's are just crap!

Is it an easy job to change the thermostat?

I know in the past this was always a pretty easy thing to do take off the top hose and there was your thermostat, take out the old put in the new with a new gasket and away you go, but modern engines, not sure about.

My heater hardly gets hot in winter. I thought about changing the thermostat and reviewing the temperature range of the replacement (in the old days you could get summer and winter stats). Problem was in summer and stood in traffic the temp gauge sits 3/4 way up so let the issue go.

I rather suspect reading on different sites about the general short-comings of the Zafira that it's as you said - "a crap heater"
