2001 Vauxhall Zafira reving over 3000 at 70 mph

the car is very economical around town but revs at 3000 at 70mph...i am told by a friend with a similar model that this is not normal...any suggestions would be appreciated

yes but it sounds like i should be changing gear again but already in 5th....every other car i have had drops to about 2000 - 2500 revs when your sitting at 70...also it only does about 40 miles to £10 of unleaded at 70

Out of curiosity , what car did you have that was doing 70mph at 2000 rpm ?

2.0 litre focus but is that relevant...i'm asking about a zafira that is drinking fuel

Checked the obvious service items like plugs , air filter ?

well i have taken the air filter out at the moment to see if its that...just been for a drive in afriends 1.6 zafira it was at just over 2500 revs at 70 mph on the flat....

Check this , especially fuel figures at bottom of first column !!!!
