Tick-over @1000 even when hot

2009 Vauxhall Zafira 1.6 Exclusive
Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2009
Variant: 1.6 Exclusive
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Noticed for about 3 weeks now that the tick-over is up around 1000 rpm even when hot. Sent to local Vauxhall dealer for investigation. No error code notices, but they recognised the tickover rate. They updated the ECU software and told me the problem was sorted. Oh no it wasn't! They also told me that without error codes there is not a lot they can do! Technicians for you!
Can anybody help please? Any experiences of this before? Thanks

Sent car back to dealer. They told me there was a problem with the ECU, so they changed it and solved the problem. Oh no they didn't.
The car went back again, now they are telling me that the computer has adjusted itself to my stile of driving and that idle rpm should be between 750-1000?
I can't help but feel I am being fobbed off.
Fuel economy is currently about 180/30litres when it is normally about 200.
If the computer has set itself for my style of driving, can it be reset to default for a normal person driving? Thanks

Took the car to a different dealer for a second opinion. To cut a long story short, the problem was caused by the thermostat being stuck open, therefore it took longer for the car to reach normal running temperature.

Well done David - at least you got the problem sorted out.

Sounds like they were not dealers but shysters. Cocks with diagnostic tools that don't know how the engine works. What? - can't find a fault code so there's no probs!!!

Hope you got your money back from them and didn't pay for the ecu upgrade. Upgrade means fix the bugs in the software which should be bug-free anyway.
