hi,poss injector pump fault, this fault can occur if the engine has been overfilled with oil.has the car had an oil change, new pump can cost upward of £1000, you can get recon ones for less.get the garage you bought the car from to check if the pump is faulty, vauxhall will not want to know car to old for them.did you get a warrenty with the car if so check if it covers the pump if faulty, engine may still be ok, to stop a over reving diesel engine leave car in gear apply brakes lift clutch pedal & stall engine.hope this is of some help

forgot to mention if engine oil has been overfilled ,drain to correct level & restart engine, if still overrevs stall engine as in previous post

Hi
I have just had the same problem with my 2006 Zafira 1.9 cdti on saturday night. The car was running fine suddenly began racing, smoke coming out,car stopped.Break down truck took car to a garage where i had to leave it untill garage opened monday. They informed my that i would have to take it to the vauxhall garage as they did not know what the error codes meant.
I had to pay £50 pounds for a truck to take it as car dead.
Today the Vauxhall garage told me the engine is knackered and a new one would be £6000.How can this happen on a 4 year old car(even with high milage)??? I have only had the car 20 months. The Vauhall garage are trying to get me a cheaper re-con engine.Has any one esle had this happen as i am desperate to no what to do.
