2003 Vauxhall Zafira heater, and temp sensor

The heater takes at least 15 miles motorway driving before it starts to warm up. during town driving, stop start mode, it takes about 20 minutes. Also temp gauge remains at zero all the time. The temp sensor on the digital readout, outside temp, fluctuates between dashes and 25 deg plus.

Sounds like thermostat faulty i.e stuck open .

as the previous reply poss themostat,the temp on digital display try a new ambient temp sensor,it should be located on or behind the front bumper,or behind the front grill
