Engine light on and car strugling

My car has recently been serviced and has had a new exhaust put on but the engine light came on the other day and sounds like it is a diesal and very slugish. My cat is fine but have put some cat clean through it to be sure. it sounds like one of my cylinders is not working. I have had the coil off and the plugs seem to be clean. could it be the starter pack ( coil ) if I replace the coil and plugs will this work

You don't say what engine ? Could be coil pack , very common .There are other possible causes too , but would need to get a diagnostic scan to see what showed .

Hi again my car is a petrol 1.8 manual. I have changed the coil pack and 4 new spark plugs and the air flow meter is new. But the thing still sounds like it is juddering and the engine light is still showing. I had a new exhaust put one 4 weeks ago so could this be the end of my cat as the light is still on. when i changed the sparks one of them was completly black but they were new just 4 months ago. I am at a loss as to what to do next.
