2000 Vauxhall Zafira 1.6

i am using 1 litre of oil a week ihave thick white smoke out of exhaust on start up

This from my point of view seems that the oil sump seal is leaking or the sump itself is leaking or the engine seal is leaking. and if it seems to be none of these then i would highly recommend that you take the car on a computered diagnostic test. this should help.

sounds like the oil is running down the guides into the cylinders, if so you will need a recon on the head. sorry

hi there as with all vauxhalls they are all common for this problem ie valve guides and valve stem seals wearing out could be fixed but the problem will come back so i would recommend that you just have the car checked out or when you next service the car just put a slightly thicker oil 10w40 oil depending on the engine type you have you can also use a engine seal conditioner that helps the engine seals out by making them soft again this product is available from all good motor factors its wynns engine seal conditioner this will help and put this in when you do a oil and filter change
