2006 Vauxhall Zafira engine at 83000 miles

if its using water but no actual leak on or around the engine then the head gasket has probably gone so the water is entering the cylinders hence the smoke (possibly steam ) coming out the back

No it's NOT white its Blue and Grey clouds and yes it WAS there BEFORE the lastes scenario of using water - sorry to confuse I thought I'd worded my original question correctly. Please can you throw what is wrong at me or do I have to try to speak to a Vauxhall technician ta

it sounds like deffo the head gasket especially with blue smoke,and the water loss,

Using a lot of water , get a pressure test on cooling system and that will show any external leaks . Then a sniff test will show if any internal leaks such as head gasket or head cracked . Simple tests.

Understand all this BUT in the first five days of aquiring the car I did NOT have the water problem I just had smoke - but no loss in performance and the engine with spanner light on from time to time - which I assumed was injector cleaning going on as I was told that too much injector cleaner was put in ie 2L in relation to a very empty fuel tank

Hi Colin cant you take the car back,as with it being from a dealer they usually give a month to 3 months warrantay,and if not i would take it to a garage,also i have been ripped off in the past from car dealers,and my advise to anyone is to take someone with you when buying a second hand car who konows abit a bout cars( a mechanic),as the dealer who sold you this car,would have said anything to you about the car to sell it,Colin i hope you get the car fixed and please when you have you will have to post the solution on here,as cars are a pain most of the time,but deffo take to a garage.Anne

If they said it would clear in a few days and it has not and is now worse with using water , get it back to them .

Hi all thanks for all the advice - my independent dealer has now taken it back and is replacing head gasket has mentioned possible skimming also replacing radiator and replacing turbo - I'm awaiting it's return
