2001 Vauxhall Zafira bonnet release catch

tryed to pull catch in the cabin but it wont release just comes back as if not connect to cable but it is as ive looked. ive also now taken cable off catch in cabin and tryed to pull cable but its still not releasing it please help me open bonnet so i can replace it or see what s not working

try getting someone to push down on the bonnet the same time as you pull on the cable
