Thanks for reply whittinghame. Had time since asking to research that code, all coming up as the sensor. But now you have mentioned the thermostat i have gotten images up and noticed it also has an electric plug. So could it be one or other or both. What is the plug on thermo for? Thanks

ECT sensor ( engine coolant temp sensor )

could be wrong but I think these are fitted with an electro thermostat.
Voltage is used to open these rather than old school coolant temp.
Supposed to give improved control on coolant warming.

For the 1.6 engine Vauxhall used an electrically assisted thermostat, this is a heater element that surrounds the normal waxstat part of the thermostat, this allows the thermostat trigger temperature to be altered by heating up the element, so the ECU can get better fuel economy depending on the conditions.

Thanks. Got new sensor on order, so will try that first. Car is running fine though.

Just an update on code p0115. got parts, (stat and sensor) and while waiting for a fine day to fit, the engine management light has gone out. !!!!
