have fitted new plugs but still does same help please

ive just bought a zafira 1.6 life been sitting a few weeks on forecourt ran for 2 days then car spanner light on still drove then cut out, started again after removing key no light, further investigation maybe water in the fuel filter mixing with fuel not burning it properly worth investigating cheep fix at around £7 for filter.
