2005 Vauxhall Zafira problem with central locking

Year: 2005
Variant: 1.9 auto diesel

the key won't lock the car - either by remote or by using it in the lock. The tailgate locks remotely, but not the doors.
Can anyone help with this, please?

Need to strip down drivers door trim and check lock / linkage is free and fully operating .Also check for broken wiring where it enters through into door .
