Gear box?

Hi there can any body advise me on what to do . I can't get the gear stick into gears while engine is on. And when I try reverse it makes a load noise like when u change gear and miss the gear. It goes into gears when the engine is off though. Car undrivable . Don't know if it a linkage rod or gear box.dont wana take it to a garage and get ripped off. It a zafira 1.6exclusive 2009. Thanks if u can help with issue.

Sounds more like clutch fault .Have you checked clutch fluid level and tried bleeding system if needed ?
