Squeek/whine from near fanbelt but belt not slipping

squeak and slight whine coming from near fan belt, belt is newish and defo not slipping, what does belt drive exactly and could it be something about to fail ie water pump alternator etc, whats best way to tell thanks

A whine could be a slightly over tight timing belt, or the timing cover rubbing a bit, has it recently had a belt change? The other noise can only be diagnosed by removing the auxiliary belt and try running it to see if its gone, don't ignore the noise get it checked out to be sure, a snapped belt will destroy almost all 16 valves

Its a diesel dosnt have timing belt, its chain only belt is serpentine belt

Sorry misread, its the plastic tensioner pulley, they do fail commonly, also I have noticed a few DTH engines having the bottom pulley detaching itself from the rubber centre, and rattle they are a total pain to remove so I hope its the tensioner.
