2001 Vauxhall Zafira timing belt tensioner bolt

Hi, have just been told by my machanic that the timing belt tensioner bolt has sheered and some valves have been bent is this a common fault on Zafira`s?? the timing belt was changed 7000miles ago and i cant see why it would sheer this bolt any help would be great thanks.

on vw diesel engines the tensioner mounting stud shears but not heard of it on vauxhall engine looks like you are going to have a lot of expense to repair engine head job and an oil pump bolt could have been over tightened tension could have been set wrong i have seen the tensioner mounting lug break of oil pump after belt failiure you might be better in long run fitting a second hand engine as with garage labour charges plus specialist head work and parts will cost a fortune if you go for second hand engine have a new cambelt kit and water pump fitted PROPERLY before fitting engine
