1999 Vauxhall Zafira kangarooing and high fuel consumption

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 1999
Variant: 1.6 16v
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
On a journey to Manchester and on the journey back only got about 30 miles per gallon despite careful driving. When driving if I am only applying small amount of gas to maintain speed car kangaroo's. I either have to put foot down more to accelerate or take foot off altogether. Sometimes idle speed varies dropping then returning to normal. No obvious misfiring.

This is me, I took the car to have a diagnostic which came up with EGR fault and lambda sensor. Bought both off net. So far replaced EGR (easy) and kangarooing stopped. God is good. Doing lambda tomorrow using copper grease from Halfords for high temp grease. Will let you know if this cures high consumption fault.
Interesting two garages didn't know why car kangarooing and didn't link EGR with this symptom.
