To the best of my knowledge, it would next to impossible to have the fuel filter full of oil. As the fuel filter is not connected to the oil system in any way. I would get a second opinion on this diagnosis from another garage. Get the car plugged in to see if any codes are shown. Do not waste money with this garage as it sounds like they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes...

i saw oil in fuel filter, the injectors are in the rocker box below the cam, submerged in oil, the seals on the injectors are suspect,i hear its a common zafira fault, can anyone confirm this

Which filter did you change???
If it is the one on the front of the engine, then that is the oil filter...
This filter should be full of oil but the fuel filter is located on the bulkhead at the back of the engine bay...

I have seen oil in a vectra diesel fuel filter as they are common for leaking injectors and fuel run back ,probably same issue you have, you can fit one way valves to the fuel pipes to stop it.
