2006 Vauxhall Zafira car and spanner, smell of rubber

When starting zafira car and spanner light comes on for a few minutes till it warms up then goes off. But when driving goes bk on and into limp mode I can turn it of by switching car off and on only works for a while and comes bk on. Plus when IV stopped and finished driving the engine smells of burning rubber any ideas please help

Sounds like the diesel particulate filter is trying to regenerate itself , quite normal for the burning smell if so .Sometimes a belt down the motorway works wonders especially if car used for short journeys .If not , a visit to the garage needed .
