2001 Vauxhall Zafira ajust petrol flow

hi, just wont to now if ther is way to ajust the flow of petrol; that is feed to engine, i need to know this because i think when my car cuts out i get the smell of petrol so i think its flooding the throttel and not burning so cutting out the engine????

any ideas???
