2005 Vauxhall Zafira orange emissions light on

The orange emissions light came on about 2 years ago. No visible symptoms and car passes MOT. Vauxall main dealer said field remedy kit was needed. Local garage just replaced the air mass meter. Light went off for day or so but has come back on. No error codes when i do the break light/accelerator process.
What can the problem be? did the garage actually do anything i ask myself.
