2004 Vauxhall Zafira major flat spot at 4k rpm, also first thing in the morning power loss for a short while.

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.8life auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi
My wife has this car and is experiencing some issues shall we say! First thing in the morning it all starts up fine but when she tries to pull away it has a certain lack of power for a few seconds then will pull away normally. THe main problem is when you hit around 4,000 rpm the car seems to hit a real flat spot(as if you had the old style manual choke pulled out)if you put your foot to the floor it will really struggle. on a few occasions it has even made the car start to miss fire. i have read about the coil packs and egr valves etc, but i have a fault code of P1895? and the garage is saying change the gearbox!!! Really want to avoid this if poss, any help will be most appreciated

Cheers

as far as i am aware air flow sensors can be troublesome on these.the fault code could be a bit of a red herring!! clear the fault if you can and see what fault code reoccurs.
