2001 Vauxhall Zafira nasty when warm

5 mins after starting up from cold the engine light comes on along with the aircon / electronic engine cooling light and the rev counter stops working.
The engine drops off from idle to about 100rpm then picks upto about 200 rpm and drops off in a cycle.Tried my Elm327 and VAG405 fcr's on the OBD plug ,Showing iso9104 ? protocol but No fault codes stored and as its a newer model pin 6 isnt present so i cant connect 5 to 6 to read any codes manualy .
No presurisation of water pipes and no oil in water .

it could be a fault within ecu or loss of engine speed data.

Hi , been awaiting deliver of vauxhall data link and software .
Start from cold = O.k no codes
5 mins running = rev counter stops working + engine light comes on along with engine cooling light .
Data link still shows engine rpm though rev counter shows none ?
Code p0725 shown = engone speed sensor
Data link software shows ALL signals and volts are within norms for -
Temp - oil - egr - ams - rpm - pump speed etc .
Crappy haynes manual shows rev counter comming from engine cooling module ?
Could the tacho signal be comming from the sensor to the ecu ok ?
Then to the engine cooling module to the clocks ?
Iff so , the ecm could be faulty maybe ??
And triggering the fault code and so putting the zaffy into limphome mode ???
Whilst maintaining the rev count through the ecu ??to the datalink ??
Any help please .
My 18 year old volvo never has these problems ...

Hi everyone - its fixed .
I bought a new crank sensor and put it on , as the cheapest option .
Starts and drives as it should.
The old one was working , but heating up and what i suspect was breaking the ciruit due to expansion ?
So thanks for the info , you were right to say a loss of engine speed data .
