2003 Vauxhall Zafira burned out valve

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi there,
Have had problems with my zafira just over a year ago rough idling etc, took it to my local garage and he stripped the engine and said there was a burned out valve - £650 now only 800 miles later the same symptoms are happening car is starting fine, then as soon as the automatic choke cuts out it splutters, cuts out when you put in the clutch, water dripping from the exhaust, very strong smell of petrol. Mechanic has refused to take the car in again, and recommended that I get a new engine. Is this another burned out valve? what would cause the valves to burn out? Should I try another mechanic? Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wow thats very poor customer service, yes find yourself another garage always go on recomendations, quite clearly they are not interested in your business.
Get a second oppinion it may not be as bad a you fear, don't worry about water coming from the exhaust its common on most cars assuming your coolant level is being maintained

Have to say I agree with Rizzo, even without this economic climate that's just poor!
But I'm still left wondering how two valves burn out?
Leaking injector perhaps,or has this clown been puting in the wrong grade oil?
Second opinion time.
