2002 Vauxhall Zafira engine noise on start up - lasts for a few minutes

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2002
Variant: 2.2 litre
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
My car got hit from the front while parked in first gear; so the engine got spun BACKWARDS as car was moved 2 metres in wrong direction. Now it has a noise like there is no oil in it for about 2 minutes, but only when it's started for first time in morning. Once it's driven around the block it is fine for the rest of the day.
all is only 3,000km old and is slightly above correct level.

What could be the cause of this noise?

Other then the noise car runs very well.

PS the insurance company fixed the body damage, now I need to find out how to fix th engine noise.

Sounds like the oil itsn`t getting to the tappetts quick enough on first start up.I assume the correct grade of oil was used? (and good quality)as its vital especially with hydraulic tappetts as fitted to your engine.

speak to your insurance company and tell them the noise wasn,t there before hand, and your not happy with it they should have another look over it for you
