2003 Vauxhall Zafira fuel leak!`

Car: Vauxhall Zafira
Year: 2003
Variant: 1.6
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hiya,

I noticed the smell of fuel a couple of times over the last few weeks but only a whiff here & there and usually after refuelling, as there has been no sign of unexplained fuel loss or any visible leak I assumed it's just been from re-fuelling. However, I noticed a strange smell from the rear of the car today - kind of rubbery, i looked under the car and saw a small drip of fluid, my husband felt around the area where it had come from and it was fuel. He said he can feel where it is coming from but cant really see it clearly. We have now parked the car up & will be taking it into the garage first thing. Just wondered if anyone knows if this is a known problem on these cars & what kind of cost / repair is normally involved? The car has struggled turn over a few times recently - not always starting first time so i'm now assuming this is connected? We had the starter motor recently replaced after that died on us! It is also due its service which we were just about to do! Just worried now this is going to be costly!

cost depends on whether fault is a hose or a union or the tank itself. ask garage to give a quote before carrying out repair.
