2008 Vauxhall Vivaro warning lights

Car: Vauxhall Vivaro
Year: 2008
Variant: 2.0 CDTi
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi, my son just brought this van with a few faults. Starts, stops runs fine. Oil life spanner is On, glow plug light is On, service light is On, reversing lights don’t work. Hadn’t been serviced for 20k miles so today changed oil and filter, fuel filter and air filter. Tried the procedure for resetting oil life monitor as per book and you tube. Didn’t work. Plugged in diagnostic and nothing found apart from air con faults, which we know doesn’t work. Checked reversing lights at bulb end, no power getting to bulb with ignition on and reverse selected. I’ve read about a few wiring issues and was wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar before I get stuck in. Thanks in advance for your help.

Checked reverse light switch / bridge out to test ? Could also check brake lights work o.k , if not could possibly affect service reset procedure . Check with volt meter that there is power at each glow plug . In the fuse box in the engine compartment check fuse # 25 70 amp Pre-heating .

Many thanks, yes brake lights work. I’d read that these vans can suffer from wiring loom problems . My next job is to strip out air cleaner etc to give myself some room. All fuses are ok. I’m a sparky ( not auto electrics though ), so should get to grips with it eventually. Vehicle starts on the button every time so I’m convinced glow plugs are fine, but will check them. Any info gratefully received.
