was he able to read any parameters whilst trying to start. I.e engine speed ecu unlocked etc?
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
Yeh he said everything was fine. He seemed to think it was a air lock or blockage in fuel line?
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
it could be. Are you able to prime the fuel system and i take it you do have fuel?? It wouldnt be the first time a gauge was dodgy!
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
Yeh def got fuel. Squeezed the manual pump loads feels like there was fuel inside it.
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
did the primer bulb become difficult to squeeze? It may be an idea to change your fule filter as a start as you may not be getting enough pressure due to a clogged filter
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
No is was quite easy to squeeze.
I just don't want to take to garage where they change every part costing me a small fortune and still problem is there, I've read so many forums where this has happened and it turns out to be something simple!!!!
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
when priming the bulb will eventually become more difficult to squeeze as the air is forced out and through filter to return pipes
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
I must of squeezed it over 100 times stayed the same, what Do u suggest?

On some Vivaros you can put the instrument panel into self-test mode by holding in trip reset button and turning on ignition.Dont know if that might clear any faults .

Wouldn't put all your apples in the one basket by sticking to the fuel side , could well be electrical .
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
it could well be anything but sometimes you have to start with the basics.
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
If you want to continue with the fuel side , you have have fuel up to filter but have you fuel going up to injectors ?Could crack a pipe to check .

If it was electrical wouldn't it of showed up when plugged in??
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
Seen some models where it was the crank sensor / wiring .But as already suggested could be anything .
Answered Mar 8, 2013 (11 years ago)
Thanks for all your information, I have read that crank sensor sometimes doesn't show up as a fault. Ill look tomorrow to see if fuel is going past filter and crankshaft sensor hopefully it's an easy fix ****ing van started to cost me now.
Cheers appreciated

Sounds electrical to me,and if so it could be bad,on at least four of these I found the simplest solution was to remove the entire engine wiring harness and manualy check EVERY wire for shorts, found over 10 on one.
Now I'm not suggesting you do this,or ever this is your fault.
Id start by checking the rev counter, does it read?does it read at least 180 rpm?if not then there's no crank angle signal
Then I'd remove and clean the earth mounts, the one right on the end of the gearbox and the one on the chassis just above it,behind the near side headlight.
then test the injector harness plugs, the wiring can wear out under the filter housing, and if you can plug a noid light into the injector plug, these are pretty cheap and will tell you if the injector is triggering,or not, something you really need to know.

If it was electrical wouldn't it of shown up on diagnostics????
Answered Mar 9, 2013 (11 years ago)
Not nescessarily. Not all faults are logged .Normally a fault needs to be seen more than a couple of times in succession before being logged

I had new gearbox and clutch month ago maybe earth wire was not connected propley again or got damaged. Where abouts is it on gearbox? Found the one on chassi

Checked " 1/4 drives "post on locations ? You could use a jump lead as a temp measure to try as an earth .
