2006 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9 cdti 2900
Car: Vauxhall Vivaro
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.9 cdti 2900
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
hi i have recently purchased my vivaro 55 plate, the problem occurs when the engine is cold in the mornings. it starts first time but is very lumpy almost as if it is trying to stool and the accelerator doesn't seem to work to try and give it a helping hand.after i have run the van for a little while it seems to start ok with no problems. the garage i brought it from said they have ran a diagnostics test on it and there was nothing wrong but it is still doing it. it is still under warranty but the garage just say there is nothing wrong with it because the test shows nothing wrong. can anyone suggest anything to me that might help.? i have seen on some forums that it could be the MAF sensor or a crappy air filter?

thanks hope someone gets back to me soon need help!

I'd start with running a pressure test and delivery rate on the in tank fuel pump.
But try switching to the run position, waiting until the pump stops, switching off and repeat a few times then cranking it over.
The pumps meant to run for around ten secs to prime,if your pump is weak,or the filter is blocked,or there are vaccum leaks in the line you'll get your problems.
The actual diesel H/P pump on these doesn't hold any fuel inside so every time it goes to start it has to be fed with fresh fuel.
I'd say money on the pre pump is on the way out, hence the first test.
