It's more than likely gear box as common fault for gearboxes

My clutch went 2 weeks before x mass had it done but box was noisy , same faults as yours all through jan and feb and box went weds night, main input shaft bearings collapse, it ll sound worse and worse then really bad , that's when to stop driving as it could lock up on you then you ll have to pay extra as your box won't be exchangeable !!
