2007 Vauxhall Vivaro mileometer keeps blinking off

It was an. X aa van and still has a lot of the electric accessories inside the switches and stuff but obviously disconnected but when u start the van the mileage display goes off then comes back on but sometimes the trip mileage resets it self why is this also the fan and stereo will always work even if the engine isn't on
