1998 Vauxhall Vectra won't start after battery dying

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 1998
Variant: LS 16V
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Came back after being abroad for 5 weeks. Tried to start car and found battery was dead. Have charged the battery but now I've reattached it the car won't start. It seems as though the immobiliser has kicked in and won't reset even after locking/unlocking car etc. The engine management light is flashing which is what is making me think it is the immobiliser.....
