2007 Vauxhall Vectra losing white smoke and using oil

my vectra is losing white smoke regularily, it is also using oil and has the odd miss

White smoke is water burning other wise known as steam. this can surgest water is getting into the cylinders. this can be down to a faulty cylinder head gasket. most diesels will use about 1litre of oil per 1000 miles. are you sre the smoke is white and not got a tint of blue to it. if it has a tint of blue that would mean the engine s burning oil and could be down to faulty oil seals
