2008 Vauxhall Vectra spluttering and cutting out

I have a 2008 Vectra 1.9CDTI 120bhp with 75000 Miles on the clock. On Sunday last. on a 16 Mile journey I had occasion to stop after 8 miles, when I restarted the Car it spluttered and lacked power for about a half mile and then "cleared itself" and drove home fine. I have not had occasion to use the Car until this evening, wednesday, the car started as normal, revved at its normal 1000rpm for a few seconds, then started spluttering / running rough and cut out within a minute. It did this several times without any improvement and I did not get to drive the car. While it was spluttering it did not respond to the accelerator and seemed to be blowing excessive exhaust but I would not normally be aware of the exhaust as it is allways start and go. A few weeks ago the particle warning light came on and I gave it a "hard drive" and it has not come on sense. I have had the Car 4 Months now and only put 3000 miles on the clock. I have noticed that there isoccasionally a slight miss i.e. maybe once a week. The car is due a basic service in 5000 miles i.e. its 20000 mile interval.
