2002 Vauxhall Vectra a sound like the exhaust is blowing but its not

Car: Vauxhall Vectra
Year: 2002
Variant: 1.8 sxi
Categories: Leaks & Noises
The problem I have is that Ive got a sound coming from the engine that sounds like the exhaust is blowing, But Ive checked the exhaust and it is fine.Ive also noticed that when the bonnet is open the noise seems to becoming from the fan belt area. I have spoke to someone and they said it could be the fan belt itself....but like i said it sounds exactly like the exhaust pipe blowing!!!!!not a problem with the belt....Can anyone help please.

There can be a flexi/concertina section of the exhaust just to the rear of then engine covered in a metal mesh this is where the exhaust blow can occur without being obvious quick test do a gas annalysis test if lambda is high you have a leak also get under car and have tail pipe obstructed to prove.
