You dont say what year car is . Assuming it is Electric-Hydraulic Power Steering Pump (EHPS) it would be advisable to get battery and alternator check .If they are o.k you would need to get a code read for the ehps .

my power steering went today, there was a funny noise when i started the van, that went from low to high pitch, then the batterey light came on and power steering went off, any ideas please. thanks wendy
