2004 Vauxhall Vectra turbo switching off or is going into limp mode?

When accelerating beyond 2500 revs turbo seems to stop working and car and spanner light comes on, on the dashboard. If the engine is turned off then on again the problem goes away until I accelerate hard again.

check your cat it may be pluged

boost pressure regulator or hose fault at a guess
