2005 Vauxhall Vectra black smake from exhaust

If you are not going to get shot of car , get it scanned and see what shows .

egr valve. ( exhaust gas recirculation valves fail on these, do at least two / three a month. black smoke, means over fueling.

Thx 4 getting bk so quick but i really dont no wat 2 do with it. I've had nothing but problems with the car since i bought it last yr. It came with no service history. Since April last yr, we have spent a fortune on it, all round brakes pads, discks etc, link on wiper, somthing with turbo, 2 anti roll bars. As far as im aware its never had the cam belt changed so that nees doing, it needs a new turbo kit as the pipe is startin 2 split, now bloody black smoke from the exhaust. I really wanna get rid hubby bit reluctant due 2 the £ we have spent on it so far. TBH i dont think we'd get that much 4 it. We have always had vauxhalls and the last 2 cars have been vectras didnt have alot probs with them, but this 1 aarrrggg.

" motec dave's " suggestion re. egr valve is a good shout , worth checking / doing .

if any of the turbo/intake pipes are split this will cause black smoke to come from exhaust,sort out the problem with the split pipe and check the particulate filter pressure hose as these tend to get brittle and snap which can cause problems with the dpf
