2003 Vauxhall Vectra dash goes off while engine runs

My vectra has got a problem with the dash, i'll be driving along and the speed dial etc all goes off with the radio but the car will still be running, anyone got any ideas what it may be before i send the dash away?
Sometimes the car won't start until i keep pushing the key to open and close the doors a few times then its ok??
